Tasting notes
The 1990 Clos Vougeot-Le Grand Maupertius is a superstar. One of the best situated parcels in all of Clos Vougeot, this wine exhibits a sweet, jammy, toasty, black fruit-scented nose, opulent, sumptuous flavors that exhibit superb extraction of flavor and a profoundly long, velvety finish. The wine is showing so well it is impossible to resist drinking now, but it should age well for another 10-12 years. After a rocky start, this domaine has produced several sublime wines in 1990. They exhibit seductive ripeness and fragrant, perfumed bouquets. The 1990 red burgundies are arriving in the marketplace. The best of them should prove to be the finest wines made in this region in over three decades. Importer: A Christopher Cannan/Europvin Selection, various importers.
