Tasting notes
Blueberry and black raspberry syrup aromas are found in the lively nose of the 2003 Pocas Vintage Port. An impressively grapey, primary effort with forward, satiny fruit, it reveals loads of glycerin in its inviting personality. Rich and candied, it benefited immensely from extensive contact with air. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040. Importer: HGC Imports Inc., San Jose, CA; tel. (408) 947-8511

Deep purple. Very heady and intense – quite high volatility. Some prunes, some wood. Very dry, tannic finish. an ‘upright’ rather than fleshy style of port. Neat and furled. Poças assert proudly that ‘since 1999, every year we have presented Vintage Ports a par with the best’ and particularly proud of their 50 year-old vines at Quinta de Santa Barbara next to Quinta do Roriz.
