Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2021-2024, Jancis Robinson MW, Sep 2020

Harvested 5 September 2017. Fermentation lasted a month with 50% in 228-litre oak barrels and 50% in concrete tank followed by malolactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months, 50% in 228-litre oak barrels and 50% in concrete tank. Bottled 1 September 2018. RS <1 g/l, TA 3.43 g/l, pH 3.39, total SO2 28 mg/l and free SO2 117 mg/l. En Faux is positioned at the top of the slope at Chasselas, near the Mont de Pouilly at an elevation of about 400 m. It is quite cool, but much sunnier than Vernay, with a south-westerly orientation. 2017 was a warm year. Serious, tense wine with structure. Minty and still pretty youthful. Lots to chew on. (JR)
