Clos St.-Martin's 1999 was hail-damaged and is not performing as well out of bottle as it did from cask. Sweet cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with wet stones characterize the attractive aromatics of this medium-bodied effort. The wine falls off in the mouth, revealing a short, slightly pinched/compressed finish. Drink it sooner rather than later ... over the next 8-10 years.

Ruby-red. Slightly high-toned aromas of currant, blackberry, roast coffee and grilled meat. Plummy and ripe, with good stuffing and balance. Finishes with ripe, dusty tannins and good length.
