Tasting notes
The 2021 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru is burdened with a heavy reduction on the nose. It feels a bit fixed and occludes the terroir expression. The palate is predictably also reduced and consequently comes across more like a winemaking lesson than an articulation of a terroir. The wood just juts out a little here. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Another standout is the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise wine evocative of pear, smoke, white flowers, hazelnuts and honey. It unites good depth of fruit with the vintage's signature tension.
The 2021 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru has a crisp nose with dewy green apple and light peach skin scents, nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite sapid with ample extract on the finish. All it needs is a little more length.
