Tasting notes
Plenty of spices, hibiscus, peaches, orange blossoms, rose petals and dried citrus. Full-bodied, firm and racy with beautiful length and tannins that are rather endless. Layered and complex, with a hint of chocolate. You can taste the Swan clone with its depth and richness, Will age beautifully. Made mostly from Swan with Hanzell and 115 clones. Drink or hold.

Of the property's 250 acres of Pinot Noir, 22 are planted to the Swan selection; they're the basis for the 2021 Pinot Noir The Famous Gate, which is 80% Swan, 16% Hanzell and 4% clone 115. After 16 months in wood, selected barrels from three sites were blended to create this wine, amounting to 45% new French oak. It's more perfumed and floral than the other Pinots here, with lovely aromas of black tea, cola and spice joining rose petals on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, it's reasonably rich and velvety but also long and harmonious on the finish.
