Bright, dark red. Wild, slightly reduced aromas of dark fruits, game bird and pepper. Sweet, dense and chewy but with the airy texture of the vintage's better examples; plenty of extract, power and breadth here but with no sense of weight. The mouth-saturating fiish shows a youthfully dry edge that calls for at least four or five years of patience.

The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (from parcels in Craipillot and Perrière) wraps around the palate with stunning depth and richness. Black cherries, plums, licorice, smoke and tar are just some of the many notes that jump from the glass. Persistent veins of minerality give the wine its focus and sense of direction. This is a marvelous, complete wine from Claude Dugat.

Bright medium red. Slightly reduced nose offers cherry, raspberry, flowers and game; smells vibrant. A step up in sweetness and texture from the village offering, with sharply delineated red berry flavors lifted by flowers and supported by a solid mineral spine. Finishes with dusty, firm tannins and excellent persistence.

The wines have a sense of tension and transparency that serves to balance the richness of the fruit that is the hallmark of the house style. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, New York City; tel.
