Tasting notes
Ripeness feels really pushed to the edge in the 2017 Syrah Hudson Vineyards. Super-ripe black cherry, blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, cloves, new leather and mint are all given an extra kick of intensity in the 2017. This rich, ample wine needs time to shed some baby fat. The 2017 was a full-throttle wine from the outset, but today it comes across as especially ripe and exotic.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Syrah Hudson Vineyard slides seductively out of the glass with a beautiful perfume of wilted roses, violets and underbrush over a core of Black Forest cake, blueberry pie and plum preserves with hints of chocolate box and star anise. Full-bodied, rich and jam packed with freshness, the palate has a firm line of ripe, plush tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long and fragrant.
The 2017 Syrah Hudson Vineyards is another glorious wine in this range. Rich and inky in the glass, the 2017 offers a compelling interplay of rich fruit allied to a vertical sense of structure. Dark red fruit, spice and floral notes are pushed forward, but it is the wine's total sense of poise that is most impressive today. Unctuous and full-throttle to the core, with head-spinning intensity and exceptional balance, the 2017 Syrah is shaping up to be an absolute jewel of a wine.
