Tasting notes
Good deep red-ruby. Crushed black cherry, chocolate and violet on the aromatic nose. Juicy and cool in the mouth, with black fruit and licorice flavors currently cut off by slightly dry, edgy tannins. I find this distinctly ungiving for the vintage, in need of at least five or six years of cellaring.

Bright ruby-red. Slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, violet and smoke, with a hint of mint. Shows sweeter, more intense dark fruit and licorice flavors on the mid-palate than the 2008 version, but not a particularly fleshy wine. Finishes with substantial building tannins and lingering fruit. About half of the fruit was picked before the rain and half after, according to Kirk Grace.
