Tasting notes
The 2010 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens includes 25% whole-cluster fruit. It has an inviting bouquet with dark-berry fruit, briary, wild hedgerow and subtle wild-mint scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, quite sharp tannins, the stem addition lending this a little rusticity and yet more complexity. I would actually hold this back for several years, because I suspect this Pommard is destined to evolve into a really lovely, characterful Pommard. Drink 2014-2026. Tasted November 2013. Slightly animal nose. Dense and rich. Correct. Drier than most Glantenay 2010s. Sumptuous and savoury. Really very impressive and persistent. (JR)
