Tasting notes
The 2020 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard was harvested on September 12 and matured in larger, 300- to 500-liter barrels. It opens with creamy new oak spices over baked peaches, baklava, beeswax and jasmine. The palate is full-bodied and very concentrated, with a dense core of ripe, honeyed fruits and balancing juicy acidity. It finishes with loads of flavor and a touch of phenolic texture that draws out its length. It's incredibly hedonistic and ideal for earlier drinking with all that gregarious fruit.

The 2020 Chardonnay Isobel Charles Heintz Vineyard is airy, gracious and nicely lifted. Heintz is one of the most distinctive vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. There's not a ton of site character here, but the 2020 is clean. It tastes to me like the fruit was picked too early. It's hard to get past the aggressive contours that lurk beneath.
