Tasting notes
A slightly acrid, alkaline note dogs the fruit in the Sigaut 2007 Chambolle Les Sentiers, though by that same token one can’t accuse it of lacking a mineral dimension! Bright red fruits and a sense of delicacy are by now familiar elements of Sigaut bottlings that do not fail to charm here, too, but I am skeptical that this will justify holding for more than 4-5 years and I would monitor it again well before then. Anne and Herve Sigaut said 2008 represented even more of a challenge for them than 2007, demanding eight people diligently manning their sorting table (shades, for them, of 2006) and the results, from prior to bottling, were also a challenge to taste, with varying degrees of reduction, CO2-retention, and awkward woodiness in evidence, at least some of which will probably have subsided in bottle. The 2007s here were bottled very late and the same destiny looked likely for the 2008s. Imported by Scott Paul Wines, Carlton, OR; tel.
