Score 88-91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004
(this cuvee includes the estateÂ’s oldest vines, which date back to 1921) Bright ruby-red. Aromatic, ripe aromas of blackberry, leather, chocolate and mint. Silky, suave and concentrated, with fresh acids enlivening the currant and chocolate flavors. Nicely full in the mouth even if the wineÂ’s components are a bit disassociated today. Finishes with firm but fine tannins and very good length.

Hot and soupy. Not for me! Awkward and rugged on the palate. (JR)
