Tasting notes
Very dark coppery gold. Really quite rich on the palate with a certain toasty quality. This reminds me of a mature non-European Chardonnay from a previous era. Not the savour of a good white burgundy but pretty persistent. Slightly bitter finish. (JR)

The 2013 Chardonnay Collezione Privata is a bit richer in color than it usually is and less complex, both of which make me think it will drink at its best sooner rather than later. The flavors are decidedly rich and intense, more like one would expect to see in this wine after a few years in bottle. Hints of dried pear, almonds, sage and mint add shades of nuance on the close. A late season heat spike appears to have taken with it some of the wine's natural freshness.
About the producer

Situated north of Castellina, on the western side of Chianti Classico, Isole e Olena was created by the De Marchi family in the 1950s and has since become one of the region’s leading names. It is renowned for its top bottling Cepparello, a pure Sangiovese, as well as its brilliant Chardonnay.
