Magnum. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with an evolved rim. Lots of evolution and interest on the nose. Fairly soft tannins. Nice balance. Bone-dry finish. Flattering softness on the mid palate and then pretty dry with potential. (JR)

Always a relatively light-styled effort, even in the richest, most concentrated vintages, the 2013 La Grave a Pomerol (nearly all Merlot from the appellation’s lighter, sandy, gravelly soils) exhibits notes of strawberries, loamy soil and forest floor. Easygoing, light- to medium-bodied, fruity and charming, it can be drunk over the next 5-6 years.

Slightly closed nose. Dry palate, soft tannins, light body. All rather simple, though pleasant enough. (RH)

The 2013 La Grave possesses good length, but only modest depth. Overall, the 2013 looks to be a fairly straightforward wine to drink in its youth. The 2013 is extremely unyielding and frankly difficult to taste today.
