Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2011 is showing a little volatility on the nose, slightly acetic that rather knocks the fruit sideways. Even returning after 10 minutes, there is little evidence of coalescence or gaining more composure. The palate is rather raw on the entry with high acidity. There is a dense core of fiery red berry fruit that segues into a rather demonstrative but bitter finish. I don’t get this at all.

Lots of life and energy on the nose. Racy and supple with great freshness and fruit. Gravelly and fresh. Quite long. (JR)
