Tasting notes
The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Aux Genaivrières is beginning to drink beautifully, soaring from the glass with an inviting bouquet of rose petals, blackberries, smoked duck, incense and exotic spices. Full-bodied, velvety and spumous, it's layered and textural, underpinned by ripe, powdery tannins and succulent acids.

Initially this displayed some mild reduction though it did not take long for it to blow off and be replaced by a soaring nose of rose petals, violets, hoisin and cassis. The delicious, dense and refined flavors are underpinned by dense but wonderfully fine tannins that are rendered almost invisible by the copious dry extract. This isn't quite as complex as the Bas de Combe but it's close and the palate impression is even more elegant. Lovely. Drink 2020+
Already quite evolved and very attractive on the nose. Lot of floral and freshness and very racy. (JR)
