Tasting notes
Here's an easy-drinking entry-level wine from an estate that maintains a classical approach to all its beautiful wines. The Castello di Monsanto 2022 Chianti Classico offers very bright and lively fruit with forest-fresh raspberry and blueberry that give this wine an especially charming profile. It flaunts primary intensity with sweet fruit and no interference from excessive aging.

The 2022 Chianti Classico is forward, juicy and very easy to like. A burst of dark red fruit, spice, cedar and leather makes a strong opening statement. Although the 2022 doesn't offer the nuance of most vintages, it makes up for that with its charming, inviting personality.
San Donato in Poggio. 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Colorino. Cask sample. Lustrous crimson. Concentrated and deep cherry nose and lush, tangy cherry palate, with a dollop of firm tannins on the finish adding grip. Immediate, a little rich and delicious. Just a tiny bit of heat on the finish. (WS)
