Tasting notes
Looking first at the second wine of this château, the 2019 Les Chênes De Macquin is more Merlot with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. A great second wine, it has plenty of classic Saint-Emilion ripe black cherry, chocolate, and chalkiness as well as a rounded, medium-bodied, fleshy, and straight-up pleasure-bent style on the palate. It doesn't have the complexity and length of the Grand Vin, but I'd certainly love to drink a bottle any time over the coming decade or more.

The 2019 Les Chênes de Macquin is a terrific second wine. Creamy and racy in the glass, Les Chênes captures all the personality of the Grand Vin, naturally in miniature. Rose petal, lavender, spice and mint are nicely pushed forward. The 2019 is just impeccable, not to mention a real delight to taste.
