Tasting Notes
Outstanding - Here too moderate reduction is enough to overshadow the underlying fruit. By contrast there is excellent verve and freshness to the powerful big-bodied and solidly concentrated flavors that display fine length on the balanced, robust and ever-so-mildly rustic finale. This well-made effort is going to need at least a few years of patience before it will be ready for prime time and should easily repay up to a decade of keeping. Drink 2031+

The 2023 Meursault Les Poruzots 1er Cru is elegant and lifted right out of the gate. White flowers, lemon peel, hazelnut, white pepper and light tropical accents all grace this airy, mid-weight 1er Cru. Bright saline notes extend the mid-palate and finish with effortless finesse.
From upper Porusots. A rich yellow with a green tint. This is oakier and even a bit heavy on the nose. Fuller white fruit on the palate, the colour and nose will be cleaned up before bottling. A touch of bacon fat. More complicated to taste today. Given Henri Boillot’s track record I would expect this to be sorted before bottling, and thus to rate higher than today’s verdict.
About the producer

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
