This is rich and expressive with sweet, dark cherry – and almost kirsch note, with incense, spice and the scent of lilies. The palate is elegant, packed full of sweet, juicy, red plum and darker bramble notes. The fine tannins build to provide a framework for the fruit, balanced by bright acidity.

A deep ruby purple. Powerful dense red fruit without detail as yet. Solid, concentrated, four-square, with no shortage of fruit, and a few tannins completing the muscular structure. Perhaps not quite as persistent as the best in the cellar.
The 2023 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is powerful and brooding, but it also shows potential. Of all the reds in the lineup, the Clos Vougeot feels the least put-together. Even so, there is good mid-palate intensity and plenty of persistence. Hints of chalk, blood orange, sage, mint and white pepper brighten the tense finish.

Based in Meursault and farming some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, Henri Boillot is a leading address in Burgundy. He crafts fine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the estate is best known for its flagship monopole vineyard, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru Clos de la Mouchère.
