Tasting notes
An outstanding wine, the 2019 Château Haut Beauséjour offers a ruby/plum color as well as a spicy, complex, yet still classic Saint-Estèphe nose of darker currant, almost plum-like fruits as well as tobacco, chocolate, and cedarwood. This carries to a medium-bodied, balanced, elegant wine with nicely integrated acidity, supple, moderate tannins, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 15 years or so.

The 2019 Haut-Beauséjour has an open, marine-scented bouquet with an attractive wilted rose petal tincture that intensifies with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, quite mineral-driven with plenty of blackberry and bilberry towards the saline finish. This is quite a classy Saint-Estèphe, one that should age nicely over the next 15 years.
The 2019 Haut-Beauséjour is another gorgeous Saint-Estèphe in this vintage. A wine of dimension and breadth, the 2019 envelops the palate with layers of nuance that develop with a bit of air. Sweet cedar, tobacco, licorice, menthol and bright red cherry all flesh out in this wonderfully inviting, seductive wine. Impressive.
