Score 94/100 · Drink 2021-2037, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Mar 2022

Sensual and perfumed, Mallard's 2017 Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru bursts with aromas of peonies, orange rind, sweet spices, red berries and plums. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's seamless and charming, with terrific depth at the core and melting structuring tannins.

The 2017 Corton-Rognet Grand Cru shows a touch of leather on a slightly gamy nose of dark berry fruit and hints of cola and wild hedgerow. The harmonious palate is well balanced with fine tannins, nicely judged acidity and a detailed finish. Black pepper and clove linger on the aftertaste. This is excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru has a backward, discreet yet well defined bouquet displaying more purity of fruit than the Maréchaudes (although that was racked later). The palate is medium-bodied, crisp and tensile, displaying fine tannin and red cherries and raspberry toward the nicely structured, classy finish. Excellent.
