The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru has quite a bold, fruit-driven bouquet with mulberry and blueberry scents. A little ostentatious for my liking, it begins to oxidize after 5 minutes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine acidity, quite grippy tannins, saline and peppery with a firm finish that requires bottle age to mellow. There is potential here...but the tannins need to be tamed and the oxidation issue needs to be addressed. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
