Score 90-92/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, May 2026

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc from yields of 33 hectoliters per hectare, the 2025 Château La Prade is a step up over the Puygueraud with a touch more generosity and volume. Red and black fruits, spring flowers, graphite, and crushed stone all define the aromatics, and it has beautiful complexity. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has ripe, building tannins and a great finish.

The 2025 La Prade is another superb wine from Nicolas Thienpont. Black cherry, plum, lavender, spice and mocha open first. Sumptuous and beautifully layered in the glass, La Prade is superbly delicious. All of the richness of these old vines on clay/limestone comes through loud and clear. The interplay of dense Merlot fruit and Cabernet Franc aromatics is beguiling. This is an exceptionally fine La Prade. Tasted two times.
