Score 93/100 · Drink 2021-2035, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2021
From 30- to 40-year-old vines, the 2015 Saumur-Champigny is very delicate and elegant on the fresh and spicy nose that reveals ripe cherry aromas and tobacco. Very gentle on the palate, this is a stunningly complex, concentrated but juicy, fresh and very elegant Cabernet Franc with ripe and harmonious fruit and a silky, well-balanced texture. The wine is gentle, even caressing and very long, with fine tannins and a lingering salty finish. Great tension. Harvested into small boxes, sorted on a table, destemmed and macerated for four to six weeks in concrete yet with no pigéage, no remontage, the wine was aged for 18 months in one- to two-year-old 228-liter-barriques from Bordeaux. Bottled in spring 2017.
