Tasting notes
Score 92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004

Pale silvery-yellow; slightly hazy. Soil-inflected nose hints at marzipan and roasted nuts. Huge and thick but with near-painful acidity that perfectly balances the wine's sweet fruit. Soil flavors build and build on the back, kept fresh by the wine's strong acid spine. (This Sancerre estate uses the VdP designation because its wines frequently have higher-than-permitted residual sugar or alcohol.)

About the producer

Cotat
Domaine Francois Cotat

Sancerre’s leading producer, François Cotat is known for his idiosyncratic, age-worthy expressions of Sauvignon Blanc on Kimmeridgian soils, not to mention his prized rosé. Sometimes denied appellation status for their atypical style, these wines are some of the most collectable in the region.
