From a very hot, steep, south-facing slope on red sandstone and gneiss, the 2016 Heissenberg Riesling is beautifully pure, fresh and subtle on the nose. The palate is lush, juicy, perfectly round and balanced, with intense but subtle fruit and great finesse. Fine tannins give structure and are more relevant here than acidity. Tasted October 2018.

Sandstone. Smells like mortadella! Mid tension and relatively open with some definite meatiness running through it. Maybe just slightly short but there is a lot going on there. (JR)
