The 2023 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru has turned out especially well this year, unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate, exotic spices, petals and pen ink. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with suave tannins and a fresh, vibrant core of fruit, it concludes with a saline finish.
Cask sample. Mid ruby. Zesty, spicy nose with red cherry and raspberry. Lovely earthy, savoury character and long finish. Very good. (MH)
The 2023 Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru offers dark berry and light incense aromas that blossom in the glass, showcasing wonderful delineation and purity. The medium-bodied palate features grainy tannins—a more structured 2023 from Rousseau, with gentle grip and a linear, slightly conservative finish. This wine is more backward in style; it just needs a bit more precision and complexity.
