Tasting notes
The 2023 Bianco Testamatta exhibits admirable richness, with a bouquet of chamomile, mint, raw almonds and wet stone that complements fresh apricots. It is deeply textural and nearly glycerol in feel, with depths of ripe apple and pear elevated by a core of brisk acidity as hints of vanillin spice add complexity toward the close. It leaves nuances of pineapple and citrusy spice, tapering off with amazing length, potent yet fresh.

The sweetly spiced 2023 Bianco Testamatta lifts from the glass with a pretty blend of chamomile, vanilla bean and white flowers. It’s soft and soothingly round, with brisk acidity that enlivens its core of ripe yellow apples and mint. The 2023 tapers off tactile yet fresh, leaving a subtle herbal note and a sensation of liquid stone.
The Bibi Graetz 2023 Isola del Giglio Testamatta Bianco opens to a saturated off-gold color with thick aromas of peach cobbler, salty minerality and spicy saffron. After fermentation, the wine goes into oak barrels with frequent stirring of the lees for lingering creaminess on the finish. No new oak is used.

About the producer

Based just outside Florence, Bibi Graetz is something of a maverick in the Tuscan wine scene. Working with old vineyards of indigenous grapes around Chianti, he produces intense wines classified as IGT Toscana; not fitting neatly in either the Super Tuscan or Chianti camp.
