Tasting notes
The 2018 Chianti Classico is a fabulous wine to drink now, as it is quite open, especially in its aromatics. Crushed flowers, spice, tobacco, dried herbs, leather and cedar lend tons of presence to the bouquet. Gracious and silky, the 2018 is an absolute delight. Readers will get a great idea of the house style from this accessible yet classic Chianti Classico from Castell'in Villa.

The 2018 Chianti Classico is a joyous wine that offers plenty of house signatures in a style that is quite classic (as opposed to the extroverted 2017). This can also be enjoyed right out of the gate, unlike the more serious 2016. Leather, tobacco, cedar and a good bit of Castelnuovo Berardenga savoriness/earthiness run through this super-classic, mid-weight Chianti Classico.
Castelnuovo Berardenga. 100% Sangiovese. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Subdued but complex nose of brooding fruit and a touch of exotic spice and stones. The juicy fruit slowly unfurls on the palate. Truly fine tannins line the emerging fruit. Stunning balance. (WS)
