2012 Nuits St Georges La Richemone

Good deep ruby-red. Distinctly wild aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry and spices. Dense and sweet but penetrating too, with nicely integrated acidity and stony minerality giving the wine a serious spine. Vibrant, very well-balanced wine with noteworthy inner-mouth tension and smooth, Vosne-side tannins. Perrot-Minot noted that this wine would still get another three or four months in barrel. It will probably call for at least five years of cellaring.

The 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges La Richemone is dark and explosive to the core. Layers of black fruit, smoke, grilled herbs, tar and licorice abound in a decidedly powerful, extroverted Burgundy. Hints of savory herbs, sweet tobacco, mint and crushed flowers add a measure of nuance on the huge, palate staining finish. The style is powerful and structured. There is a lot going on in the glass.
