Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2024, Neal Martin, Oct 2020

The 1983 Musigny Grand Cru is mature in color with a wide bricked rim. Given the vintage, it has a respectable bouquet that shows no signs of rot, offering instead incense and pressed flowers among the ferrous red fruit, all surprisingly effervescent and meliorating with aeration. The palate has sufficient red fruit, a little muffled and rustic, but equipped with sufficient freshness. Touches of desiccated orange peel and marmalade come in late, along with white pepper, though the finish is beginning to dry out. Drink soon. Tasted at the Drouhin Musigny vertical in London.
