Score 95-97/100 · Drink 2025-2050, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a very clean and precise bouquet that is more pixelated than the Bienvenue. The palate is very well balanced and displays seamless integration thanks to the perfect line of acidity. This just sashays along, with touches of ginger and lemongrass towards the finish, wonderful salinity and nervosité - an achievement considering the vintage.

The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru reveals aromas of smoky reduction mingled with orange oil, freshly baked bread and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and satiny, with chalky structure and racy acids, it's a touch broader-shouldered and less suave than the Bienvenues.
