The 2019 Olivier has a backward bouquet with earthy red fruit, well-defined with just a touch of leather. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, nicely balanced with just a slight bitterness on the finish. Falls apart a bit in the glass. This is a perplexing showing. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Just a hint of cardboard on the nose but otherwise perfectly acceptable even if not really exciting. Seems just a little sweet on the end… Not the most refreshing. (JR)

Blackcurrants, darker cherries, earth, and spicy oak notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Olivier, a young, unevolved, promising 2019 with medium to full body, ripe, nicely polished tannins, the vintage's elegant style, and a great finish. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 10-15.

Aromas of red berries and plums, framed by hints of burning embers and a deft framing of new oak, introduce the 2019 Olivier, a medium to full-bodied, supple and charming wine that's elegantly fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, concluding with a discreetly heady finish.
