2022 Le Petit Cheval Blanc

Tasting notes
The nose bursts with aromatics of white peach and citrus. The palate is zesty and tightly packed with green apple and white flowers. It’s elegant with a mineral salinity that drives through to the finish. This years Petit Cheval is especially striking on the palate, refreshing and concentrated. The purity of the fruit is particularly impressive. Blend: 71% Semillon, 29% Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2022 Petit Cheval Blanc is much more austere and possibly Sauvignon Blanc-driven compared to others in the flight, more malic, slightly smoky in style. The palate is taut on the entry, quite reductive with a touch of struck match, and it seems to run out of steam towards the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.
About the producer

Ch. Cheval Blanc is one the finest producers in Bordeaux. The Saint-Emilion estate’s Cabernet Franc-dominant wines are consistently among the top wines of the vintage.
