Cask sample. Alluring perfume on the nose. Some violets here. Deep and firm on the palate. This needs a lot of time to come round and doesn't show the typical quaffability of many 2022s. But this will go the distance and be worth buying for future pleasure. (AWH)

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries, rose petals and sweet spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, with an enveloping attack that segues into a taut, mineral finish, it's a blend of premiers crus Craipillot and Perrières.
