Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Corton-Perrières Grand Cru ’11 from Louis Latour offers inviting brambly red berry scents on the nose that is well defined, the oak deftly integrated with attractive undergrowth notes seeping into the aromatic profile. The palate is underpinned by supple, light tannins that are neatly in sync with the acidity. There is a dash of cracked black pepper towards the finish that is nicely reserved. Not a long-term Corton, but nicely crafted and approachable.

About the producer
The Latour family has been growing vines in Burgundy since at least 1731. Their négociant business – today one of the region’s biggest names – was founded in 1797. Still family-owned today, the company owns 48 hectares of vines, 27 of which are Grand Cru, as well as its own cooperage.
