The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a noticeable reduction on the nose, although I feel this will lift with bottle age. There is a serious wine tucked in underneath. The palate is intense and well-balanced, with a citric line of acidity. There is real presence and weight despite the reduction, leaning more towards yellow fruit mixed with lanolin and a touch of lemongrass towards the finish, the latter lingering long after the wine has departed. Be patient, and you will have a serious Bâtard-Montrachet on your hands. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Even more powerful and structured than the Bienvenues, the 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru offers up aromas of citrus oil, confit orange and crisp stone fruit mingled with nutmeg, white flowers and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's muscular and tightly wound, with racy acids, chalky dry extract and a long, resonant finish.
The 2020 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru has a reserved bouquet with crushed stone, white flowers and a touch of white linen, hints of silex emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, just a small reduction, a touch of struck match on the finish with a hint of custard creams in the background. Good persistence, this is a delicious Bâtard-Montrachet in the making. Three barrels produced.
