The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape F601 is a rare release of 100% Cinsault that's brought up all in demi-muids. It's another expressive, already complex wine from this incredible team and offers fabulous black cherry and framboise-like fruits as well as spice box, dried flowers, garrigue, and sandalwood. It shows the charming, elegant, supple style of the vintage beautifully, has medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish.
All Cinsault, from a parcel planted in 1928 and raised in demi-muids, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape F601 boasts the same other-worldly aromas as the first two vintages, with billowing notes of roses, spice and herbal tea. It's full-bodied, silky and mouth-coating, yet also airy, fresh and long, with echoes of Campari-like spice and orange zest lingering on the finish.
Also all Cinsault from the same parcel planted in 1928, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape F601 reveals a healthy ruby/plum hue to go with a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, toasted spices, dried flowers, and sandalwood. Possessing one of the best mid-palates in the vintage, it's medium to full-bodied, has gorgeous tannins, and a layered, seamless, elegant style that's already hard to resist. Going forward, Domaine Isabel Ferrando will now include all the grapes that previously went to the Domaine Saint-Préfert label. The special cuvées of Reserve Auguste Favier and Collection Charles Giraud will be moved into a single Châteauneuf du Pape, and the new lineup will include a single Châteauneuf du Pape, the 100% Grenache Châteauneuf du Pape Colombis, and the new Châteauneuf du Pape F601, which is all very old vine Cinsault. I believe the whites will continue to include a base Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc as well as the Cuvée Spéciale Vieilles Clairettes. Once the dust settles here, we’ll update the database to ensure everything is correct. Nevertheless, one thing that remains constant is the incredible quality that continues to emerge from this talented winemaker.
