The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a very earthy almost peaty nose that obscures some of the fruit concentration, a little undernourished compared to its peers. Frankly, I could not work out this wine for the first 10 minutes but fair dues, it coalesces and gains density and freshness with a pleasant piquancy on the sapid finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Cazetiers 1er Cru is a majority of whole bunches. The stems add complexity on the nose, with scents of white pepper and thyme infusing the redcurrant and raspberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins that frame the tobacco-tinged fruit, but it just lacks a bit of grip on the finish. This Gevrey needs to up its game.
