Dark ruby with rust rim. Sweet and perfumed. A bit taut and tart, this was dense and furry to begin with, but then opened out to something great, rich and nuanced. If you had this in isolation you would adore it. (JR)
Tasted Once I must confess I never dreamed so many 1959 Pomerols would turn out so rich and concentrated. La Conseillante's 1959 exhibits a fragrant bouquet of flowers, black-raspberries, and smoke, medium to full body, soft tannin, and wonderful, pure, sweet, expansive fruit. It is a classic example of La Conseillante's ability to produce authoritatively rich wines of extraordinary elegance and complexity.
About the producer
Château la Conseillante was built in 1750 and named after the proprietor, Libourne business woman Catherine Conseillan. The reputation of the wines quickly grew and her wines became some of the most expensive in the region.
