100% whole-cluster fermentation. Aged for 18 months in French oak, 30% new. From a north/northwest-facing vineyard planted on limestone at 2,200 ft in 1975, according to the bottle’s very detailed back label. Fairly deep ruby. Lots of black-cherry character (ripe, spiced and dried). Pomegranate, dried tomato, dried raspberry, dark chocolate. Silky tannins. Pretty ripe, though not overripe, with some protruding alcohol heat. Complex and layered; a powerful, high-toned expression of Pinot. (JRL)

The 2020 Pinot Noir Reed Vineyard comes across as a bit light and lacking in depth as well as structure. Even so, it is nicely balanced for a small-scaled wine. Hints of blueberry, lavender, menthol and baking spices linger on the soft, open-knit finish.
