Tasting notes
50% declassified young-vine Échezeaux. Strawberry juice with a touch of bramble fruit too, and generous oak spice giving vanilla and clove on the finish. Subtle sappy note suggests some stems. Expressive and flavourful while maintaining delicacy and poise. Lengthy and concentrated finish. (RH)

There are two-and-a-half barrels of the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru, which comes from Les Beaumonts and some declassified Echézeaux. Matured in just under 50% new oak, it has a floral bouquet with red currant, bergamot, and subtle chai tea aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle but insistent grip on the entry, and quite saline in the mouth. A touch of white pepper and clove appears toward the persistent finish. I like the joie-de-vivre here.
