2022 Charmes Chambertin

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing especially well, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries and plums mingled with orange zest, violets and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and suave, with a cool core of pure, succulent fruit structured around melting tannins, it's elegant and harmonious, concluding with a long, floral finish.

0.27 ha (0.67 acre). Situated in Mazoyères-Chambertin to be precise. When bottled, carries the name Christophe Roumier. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Lovely bright transparency to the colour. Ripe, rich fruit and beautiful texture, Charmes seems such a flattering grand cru. Good length and soft, powdery tannins. Very balanced and integrated structure. (MH)
