The 2020 La Croix de Pez and a delineated nose with plenty of red fruit laced with orange rind and marmalade, a little more tertiary than it showed out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine depth, maybe not as complex as the aromatics and it just falls away prematurely on the finish.

Earthy, crunchy raspberry and redcurrant fruit, cheerful and unfussy. Old school but full of charm, and great value.

The 2020 La Croix de Pez is light and airy on the nose, featuring blackberry and raspberry preserve and hints of blood orange and marmalade. It gains intensity with aeration but never fully lets go. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, firm grip and a solid backbone. It’s a stout Saint-Estèphe that is missing a little refinement, though some of its edges will be smoothed out during élevage.
