Tasting notes
Readers who are sitting on bottles of Jean-Marc Vincent's 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières should be very happy about it, as the wine is really beginning to drink beautifully, bursting with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, sweet citrus oil, freshly baked bread, popcorn and white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave palate that's cool, concentrated and precise, concluding with a penetrating finish.

A brilliant effort, the 2020 Santenay 1er Cru Gravières Rouge unfurls in the glass with aromas of dark berries and plums mingled with exotic spices, roses and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed, it's deep and concentrated, its ripe structuring tannins almost entirely concealed in a perfumed core of fruit.
The 2020 Santenay Les Gravières 1er Cru is a blend of a block planted in 2011 at 14,000 vines per hectare and a new block close to Chassagne planted in 2018 at 17,000 vines per hectare. It has a very fragrant bouquet, apricot blossom mingling with slithers of white peach and hints of mango. The palate is well balanced with real depth, a fine line of acidity and a brisk, citric, persistent finish. Excellent. Closure: Diam 10
