2020 Meursault Genevrieres

The 2020 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru is another that, like the superior Buisson-Battault, leans towards the richer, sunnier side of the spectrum. Yellow fruit commingles with oatmeal and honeysuckle. Late picked? Maybe just a little more honeyed, returning to the glass after ten minutes. The palate is nicely balanced with a harmonious entry. Lovely depth and cohesion, lightly spiced with a dash of lemongrass towards the finish. This meliorates in the glass, prompting me to keep upping my score, and if I had longer, it might have gone further! Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
