Tasting notes
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru labelled under "Arnaud Mortet" is apparently identical to "Domaine Denis Mortet" that was included in the same flight! It has a placid nose that takes time to unfold in the glass, mainly dark berry fruit with hints of sea spray, nuanced yet undoubtedly drawing you in. The palate is very well balanced with filigree tannins and perfectly pitched acidity. Plenty of mineral-driven red fruit leads to a harmonious and poised finish that exudes classic Burgundy. This represents a supremely gifted Pinot Noir. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

About the producer

Arnaud Mortet is the négociant arm of Domaine Denis Mortet, run and managed by Arnaud and his sister Clémence. The same team farms the vineyards and makes the wines, with these wines essentially domaine in all but name.
