The 2021 La Tour de Bessan feels a little flat at the moment, lacking fruit intensity and freshness. The palate is medium-bodied and a little hollow, with hard tannins and sour cherry on the finish—tough going. A second bottle tasted in the UK is no different, I'm afraid.

A little more extracted than some in the vintage, and it gives dark fruit expression, with red and black cherry, plus cherry pit, raspberry leaf, and some bitter aniseed and tight woody tannins. Harvest September 23 to October 8. Yield 45hl/h, Marie-Laure Lurton owner, Eric Boissenot consultant.

The 2021 La Tour de Bessan has a perfumed nose that feels just a little volatile. The palate is sweet but a bit cloying. Pushed a bit too far? Tasted twice.
